A report on the initial assessment of herbicide-tolerant maize by the company Monsanto.
The application concerns the substance herbicide-tolerant maize which can be sold as a separate product, or can be used as an ingredient in certain types of food products.
This report describes a so-called ‘initial assessment’ according to the European approval procedure for novel foods, as governed by European Regulation 258/97.
The Novel Foods Unit sent this assessment report to the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport on 13 August 2002.
