Internet trade in veterinary medicinal products

More and more consumers have been purchasing veterinary medicinal products online in recent years. It is vital that you purchase any veterinary medicinal products from a legal online retailer. Since 28 January 2022, the Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation sets out new rules for the online trade of veterinary medicinal products.

Online trade of veterinary medicinal products

Websites that sell veterinary medicinal products via the internet must be registered and listed in the Register for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products (Register internethandel diergeneesmiddelen). They must also display a European logo on their website. This logo can be used to check whether a web shop is entitled to offer veterinary medicinal products.

The Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation affects all retailers in the Netherlands offering veterinary medicinal products via a website.
