Assessment report Chia seeds, applicant Doens Food Ingredients B.V.
A report on the assessment of chia seeds by the company Doens Food Ingredients B.V. for substantial equivalence to chia seeds, which has already been authorised in the European Union.
The chia seeds can be sold as a separate product, or can be used as an ingredient in certain types of food products.
Based on this positive assessment report, the applicant can inform the European Commission about the marketing of this chia seeds, in accordance with article 5 of European regulation 258/97.
The Novel Foods Unit sent this assessment report to the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport on 9 July 2014.
