Assessment report Chia seeds, applicant Tradin Organic Agriculture
A report on the assessment of chia seeds (seeds of the plant Salvia hispanica) by the company Tradin Organic Agriculture B.V. for substantial equivalence to chia seeds which are already authorised for use in the European Union.
The chia seeds can be sold as a separate product, or can be used as an ingredient in certain types of food products.
Based on the positive opinion in the rapport, the applicant may notify the European Commission about the marketing of this chia seed, according to article 5 of EU Regulation 258/97.
The Novel Foods Unit (BNV) sent this assessment report to the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) on 11 April 2014.
