The Terms of Use for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products have been updated with the correct links.

Update November 4, 2025

The Terms of Use for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products have been amended as of 4 November 2025. Point 14 describes our procedure if your registration does not meet the requirements. Point 15 points out the information requirement. This is the information you must provide when offering veterinary medicines online.Point 27 informs you that you can only offer veterinary medicinal products that have a marketing authorisation (are registered) in the country where you offer them. The labels and package inserts of the veterinary medicines you sell in the Netherlands must be in Dutch, the Dutch authorisation number must be stated on the outer packaging, and the delivery status (legal status of supply) must be stated in the package insert. The "Does not meet the requirements" section (points 41 through 45), explains how we will handle the removal of your webshop from the Register of Online Veterinary Medicines.

Update December 16, 2024

 

‘The Terms of Use for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products’ have been amended as of December 16, 2024. Point 9 has been amended. From now on, the logo may only be displayed after you have received an email approving your registration. Furthermore the rules for pharmacists have been clarified under point 27.

Update March 21, 2024

Some points have been added to ‘The Terms of Use for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products’ as of March 21, 2024. It has been added under point 13 that the rules regarding the use of the logo also apply when using an app. Point 27 states that a veterinarian may have to apply for an additional retail permit. This is because the permit applies by operation of law only to the supply of veterinary medicinal products to animal keepers, for those animals for which the veterinarian has provided medical care in the exercise of his profession. A provision about 'online diagnosis' has been included under point 33. Finally, the NVWA intervention policy is further described under point 35.

Update February 13, 2023

The Terms of Use for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products have been extended by 1 point as of 13 February 2023. This concerns point 26. This states that the online sale of veterinary medicines in the UDA and UDD category is not permitted. The ban on the online sale of these veterinary medicines already existed, but this has been emphasized even more by adjusting the user conditions.
