Classification system legal status of supply paracetamol
Paracetamol is available in different strengths. To determine the legal status of supply, the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) uses a classification system based on indication, strength and package size. The aim is to minimize risks during use. This classification system is published on this website.
Previous decisions and considerations on risk minimization of NSAIDs in self-care were taken as a starting point in determining this classification system for paracetamol. This classification system limits the package size of paracetamol under the GS (General Sales) and PDO (Pharmacy and Drugstore only) delivery statuses. No limit has been determined yet for the PH (Pharmacy only) delivery status of paracetamol.
