The use of herbs in animals is covered by a number of different areas of legislation, resulting in some understandable confusion. The Newsletter on herbal product use in animals was drafted in order to clarify the situation. This newsletter provides an initial overview of the existing options for marketing a herbal product and outlines the general requirements.
The newsletter was drafted by the Veterinary Medicinal Products Unit (VMPU) on 28 May 2015 at the request of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, in cooperation with the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA).
