VMPU to start publication of GMP inspections

Starting this year, the Veterinary Medicinal Products Unit (VMPU) will publish the reports of veterinary GMP inspections. The reports will be available for consultation on the website of the Medicines Evaluation Board, of which the VMPU forms part.

By publishing these reports, the VMPU and the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ) aim to provide greater insight into the conduct of such inspections. So far, these reports have not been available to the public. The first publications will appear by the middle of this year on the GMP inspections page

This only concerns reports of GMP inspections carried out by the IGJ at manufacturers and importers of veterinary medicinal products in the Netherlands. Reports of combined GMP inspections (i.e. of inspections at human and veterinary medicinal products companies) can be found on the IGJ website

What is GMP

GMP is short for Good Manufacturing Practice. It is a quality assurance system for the pharmaceutical industry. The quality of a veterinary medicinal product can only be assured with a carefully defined and controlled production process.

Before we publish reports on this website, the IGJ will coordinate the final version with the manufacturer or importer.
