Some logos and websites may be fake. That is why it is important that you always check whether a supplier that displays the logo on its website is actually listed in the Register for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products. Companies that are registered in the Register for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products are entitled to display the Logo for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products.
Additional checks to prevent internet fraud
Be critical of who you do business with, as there may be are fake companies trading on the internet trying to scam visitors. Check whether a supplier that displays the logo on its website is actually registered in the Register for internet trade in veterinary medicinal products.
Inclusion in the Register indicates that the supplier is legally entitled to sell veterinary medicinal products. Unfortunately, this provides no additional guarantee that a retailer will always supply the products you have ordered as desired.
Therefore you should always additionally verify the following general information:
- Do the company name and the Chamber of Commerce number match the details listed by the Chamber of Commerce (KVK)?
- Does the Chamber of Commerce information clearly show a link between the organisation and the supplier?
- Does the website clearly state who the supplier is?
- Does the web address look trustworthy?
- Does the supplier have a brick-and-mortar location in the Netherlands?
- Is the supplier affiliated with a web shop quality mark?
- In addition, you may wish to look up other information about the company online. What have experience have other buyers had?
Do not buy veterinary medicines from webshops outside the EU
Do not order veterinary medicines via webshops outside the European Union (EU). This is prohibited. These products can be dangerous for your animals and for yourself. You may receive a fine if you order veterinary medicines from such a webshop. Reporting fraud
If you suspect that you have been the victim of fraud, you should report the suspected crime to the police and to the Fraud Help Desk.
