Policy rule on classification of veterinary medicines published
The policy rule about the classification of veterinary medicines has been published in the Government Gazette. The Veterinary Medicinal Products Unit (VMPU), which forms part of the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) Agency, implements the above-mentioned policy rule on the orders of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The policy rule will be effective as of 1 July 2016.
The Council for Animal Matters (CRD) will implement the policy rule when determining the classification of existing and new veterinary medicines. The classification is expected to remain unchanged for the vast majority of the existing marketing authorisations.
Classification of a veterinary medicine means that a veterinary medicine may only be supplied or used under certain conditions, by specific qualified individuals.
